Some people love it, some people loathe it, and some people just don\u2019t get it. Twitter is still going strong, with over 126 million daily users. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the main cons you will hear people bemoaning\r\nwhen it comes to Twitter is its reputation as an \u2018echo chamber,\u2019 where people\r\nonly follow and retweet those who stick to the narrative that they want to\r\nbelieve. Whilst this might not be the best way to use social media as an\r\nindividual, echo chambers are exactly what a brand needs \u2013 what better way to\r\nreach and gain followers in your target market that on a platform where people\r\nlike to share the things they feel represent them best.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twitter is also famous for its friendly beef between\r\nrivals. Like the time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eater.com\/2018\/11\/6\/18067980\/burger-king-kanye-tweet-mcdonalds\">Burger King got Kanye in on its feud with MacDonalds,<\/a> or the multiple times that <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hootsuite.com\/risky-brand-comebacks-social-media\/\">Netflix has sassed-back<\/a>. It\u2019s not for everyone,\r\nbut if you use Twitter smartly without annoying your fans, it\u2019s a great way to\r\nmake headlines.&nbsp; <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Get your name out there<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sharing your story on Twitter isn\u2019t always easy \u2013\r\nthere is a lot of noise to cut through and you need to be concise. The benefit\r\nof this is that social media has given people a short attention span when\r\nbrowsing online, so you don\u2019t need to write lengthy posts. A quick update on\r\nwhat you\u2019re doing, what\u2019s going on behind the scenes of your brand, and how\r\nyour followers can learn more about you, will usually do the trick. Twitter can\r\ngenerate great click through rates, and tweets shared with imagery always\r\nperform better than those without.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Check your audience<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this in mind, it\u2019s necessary to consider whether\r\nyour brand lends itself to Twitter. Young people use the platform to share\r\nimages, memes, and a lot of political opinions. So if your brand is modern,\r\nfitting with the zeitgeist, and visually appealing, make sure you know your\r\nhashtags and influencers, and get tweeting.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your audience is older, look for news hooks and\r\nother stories that you can share to get your name out there. The next step is\r\nto start selling your own brand and product, but only when you have a\r\nfollowing: if your page is full of tweets about what you want to sell, people will\r\nwant to follow you. You have to give a little something of value back to the\r\nTwitter community.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Make the most of its features<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Twitter has some great features, like Lists, where you\r\ncan separate certain groups (e.g. competitors, or followers who fit certain\r\ncategories) and see what they are tweeting about. It\u2019s a good way of keeping on\r\ntop of current trends that your audience is interested in \u2013 but remember, it\u2019s\r\nall publicly viewable.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Try Twitter ads<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like Facebook, you can advertise on Twitter by\r\npromoting existing tweets.
