Competitive advertising is a prime example of this commodification of space as every virtual and physical blank space is seized by advertisers and used to promote a brand or product.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should then not come as a surprise that <a href=\"https:\/\/stopad.io\/blog\/ads-seen-daily\">the average modern person sees 5000 adverts a day.<\/a> This figure is insane and clearly no one is going to remember all these ads. This creates a problem: there are too many adverts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point of marketing is to get noticed, right? So how do you stand out from 4999 other adverts?&nbsp;<br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disruption! <\/strong><br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"268\" src=\"https:\/\/website.clientdemoweb.com\/oggadoon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"'Attention Please' GIF.\" class=\"wp-image-12195\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The key to getting noticed is to disrupt a person\u2019s routine. If your natural daily flow is disrupted then you\u2019re more likely to remember it.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Make people laugh<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, Netflix released a hugely successful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.her.ie\/entertainment\/gemma-collins-has-joined-orange-is-the-new-black-well-kind-of-414294\">video campaign<\/a> for their TV series \u2018Orange is the New Black\u2019 where the TOWIE star Gemma Collins featured in a blinged up prison outfit. The video received 102,558 views from an organic post on Netflix\u2019s UK Twitter account because it made people <strong>laugh<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Challenge your audience<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the biggest marketing successes from winter 2018 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2018\/dec\/05\/iceland-banned-palm-oil-advert-should-have-aired-says-itv-chief\">Iceland\u2019s banned palm oil advert<\/a>. The frozen foods supermarket rebranded a Greenpeace cartoon video on the effects of palm oil on the Orangutan. Iceland\u2019s advert posted to their YouTube account and received 6,023,089 views without having ever aired on TV because it <strong>challenged <\/strong>viewers.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Shock your audience<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Women\u2019s Aid, a charity working to help victims of domestic abuse and prevent it from happening, created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wEybVOerb9Q\">an impactful billboard<\/a> that used facial recognition technology to \u2018heal\u2019 the wounds of a virtual victim of domestic violence by the audience looking at the advert. As well as thousands of organic impressions from passers by, the released video showing the billboard in action received 76,999 views (to date) because the image <strong>shocked<\/strong> people.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an oversaturated market it\u2019s important to get noticed.
